About Beauty of India

From heart to heart – since 1999

Beauty of India was born from a dream, a journey and a love for India. After a visit with a friend, I was deeply moved by the country's colors, scents, crafts and people. In 1999 I took the plunge – I exhibited at my first market at Sergels Torg in Stockholm. Without a driver's license and a car, but with lots of will and support from friends.

A lot has happened since then. Today I travel around Sweden with my self-built pop-up store, and sell both online and in my warehouse store in Årsta, Stockholm.

My motto has always been: Nothing is impossible.

Who am I? – Anette Sidkvist

I am a happy, colorful and talkative woman in my prime. Dancing, cold baths and personal development are some of my passions – and above all, I love meeting people. You, my customers, constantly inspire me.

I am so grateful to work with beautiful things, to travel and meet both new and returning faces. It is your happy smiles and your appreciation that give me the strength to continue.

How I work – with heart and respect

When I travel to India, I buy directly from small, local entrepreneurs – often the same people I’ve built relationships with over many years. This means I know who made the products and that it’s done in a fair and respectful way.

Although Beauty of India does not have an official Fairtrade seal, I work closely with the people who create the goods, and I always shop with care.

I only sell things that I like myself – and that spread joy, color and emotion. With me you will find:

• Clothing: Colorful kimonos, dresses, harem pants and tops – many made from recycled saris.
• Jewelry & decoration: Bindis, bangles, henna and other Indian forehead jewelry.
• Fragrance & body care: Ayurvedic soaps, perfume oils, incense and fluoride-free toothpaste.
• Eco-friendly bags: All your goods are packed in recycled sari bags – both beautiful and sustainable
